Drawing Day 08 is a worldwide drawing event that is about getting everyone to draw for the sake of art. They would like help creating 1 million drawings online on this day to support online art communities.

Its on June 7, 2008. The YouTube video is pretty cool, too.

This year I’ve spent more effort trying to make time to draw so this sounds like a great idea. Give them your support. I’ll skip the Flickr / Deviantart route though and post them on my drawing blog. To each his own.

And don’t mention Paul’s new way of referencing his supporting links in the podcast (in human non-friendly terms), we’re all smarter than that right. Ha ha.

If you’re in Hobart, Tasmania this month you might like to check out a group exhibition titled Osmosis 08 at the Sidespace Gallery, Salamanca running from 15 - 21 May, 2008. The opening is at 6pm on Friday May 16, 2008. The exhibition includes work from Fiona Fraser, Gabrielle Falconer, Iona Johnson and Linden Langdon (my partner - she also developed the website and made the free theme semantic and valid XHTML 1.0 Strict).

A talented group of female emerging artists from the University of Tasmania School of Art exhibiting work united by the location of the Tasman Peninsula.

A few weeks ago I forgot to post this link to Erick Schonfeld’s post on Ray Ozzie’s strategy memo - Microsoft’s future is not in creating stand alone software anymore but will be in the direction of collaborative applications. Software is Dead, Long Live the Web. Which makes me wonder why so many software people I meet still don’t get the desktop / web convergence thing. Of course that’s the direction we’re moving and its great to see Ozzie pick up the baton, too.

Jason Cranford-Teague is working on font modules for CSS3 including those for CSS Fonts and CSS Web Fonts. He’s asking designers who work in HTML and CSS to put forward ideas on what might be improved and those improvements already suggested. Considering typography is most of the design these modules will significantly affect our ability to shine as designers.

A new and sexy looking RSS Reader for the Mac comes out of Acrylic called Times. Some people seem to like it and others say its slow. While I don’t have a Mac to check this one out it strikes me as one of those products with an instant like / dislike factor and that, my marketing friends, is a very good thing.
