Dyson CEO in the Test Labs

Friday, June 27th, 2008

TechCrunch have put up a great snippet of video where James Dyson (CEO of Dyson) goes into the test labs and actually tests one of their vacuum cleaners. This is way cool because its the approach that should be happening in software. I would like to see the CEO of any company just go in and (unscripted) test the boundaries of their site or application. Lets stress test the hell out of things in a mad ad-hoc way. Great stuff. There is more of this from Dyson over on CrunchGear.

Graphic Design vs Web Design

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Roberto Baca has some expanded conversation to add to Andy Rutledge’s article titled the Employable Web Designer. The world of the web designer isn’t a specialisation of graphic design at all, its far larger and more complex than designing posters that have buttons. The moment you add human perception, information and interaction (plus an array of technologies and sciences) then we’ve well and truely passed graphic design by the wayside. True, graphic design is a part of what we do but its a bigger, more complex picture.
