Bill Gates on Windows Usability
Joshua Porter has linked to a 2003 email from Bill Gates where he complains about the usability issues he has with the Windows interface. The email is a significant reminder that we can’t just assume people can use an interface. Often what we see as being evident isn’t to others - even the CEO. I’m sure millions of people out there had the same WTF moments as Big Bill. I wonder if we’re just as guilty of making user assumptions or providing incomplete contextual cues with the work we’re doing ourselves?
