WaSP Round Table: Version Targeting

The WaSP (Web Standards Project) Round Table: IE8’s Default Version Targeting Behavior has Microsoft developers talking about the logic of version targeting and giving feedback on concerns and suggestions. The most interesting thing is at the end when discussion turns to the suggestion of using a Strict Doctype to trigger standards mode. An mp3 is available as well as a transcript.

Update: 26 February, 2008
Aaron Gustafson, one of the guys in the discussion, has posted a brief outline of the proposal to use a Strict Doctype instead of a meta tag in Internet Explorer 8 - Automatically opting-in to IE8s standards mode.
